Incorporating imagery from its history as a railway hub, the City of Perris commissioned ima to create a revitalization plan for its primary downtown arterial, ‘D’ Street Promenade.
Following a design charrette with property owners, residents, and municipal leaders, ima created specific plan guidelines that highlight the city’s heritage and attract new business to its urban core.
Gateway signage welcomes motorists exiting I-215 directly to ‘D’ Street, the heart of the city. Two new city parks anchor the district, while new sidewalks, lighting, and signage guides residents, workers, and guests through the refurbished downtown core. Lush streetscapes and expanded sidewalks encourage pedestrian flow. Renovated storefronts and restaurants update and reinvigorate the area. Vintage streetlamps and railway lights are strung across the street, much the same as they were in the early 1900s. Visitors to the Orange Empire Railway Museum, which draws tourists from throughout the Southland, are routed to the city’s core through ‘D’ Street’s railway imagery and thematic graphics.
