The 120 acre (49 hectare) Upper Newport Bay Regional Park–Phase I in Newport Beach, CA is a passive recreational park with a strong emphasis on providing an interpretative program related to the unique environmental setting. The master plan includes habitat restoration for coastal sage scrub, native communities, chaparral, elderberry woodland, baccharis scrub and southern willow scrub. Phase I included the interpretive center, park entrance, trails, parking lot and areas of habitat restoration.
