ima staff members including: Christian Macke, Joey Perez, Lance Hunter, Shaun Johnson, Shane Antolak, Jason Rubek and Clayton Franklin, supported the Stanford House team in the 2013 Solar Decathlon at the Great Park in Irvine. ima team members incorporated experience from our rich history of implementing sustainable development solutions in all facets of our urban design and landscape architecture projects. ima supported the team with our local knowledge of landscape architectural design and installation along with local venders Tree of Life nursery, Old Town Fiberglass and Terra Verde Industries. The Stanford House was located at Site #104 and was the only entry incorporating a pure native landscape.
According to its website, “The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon is an award-winning program that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.” This internationally acclaimed event has previously been held in our nation’s capital. This year’s location, the Orange County Great Park, was selected as the first site outside Washington DC to host this showcase of innovation in sustainability and energy efficient home building.
