Burbank Entertainment Village

Designing an integrated urban streetscape and landscape, which extended the existing downtown energy, was a critical objective by the developer to attract significant tenants and to help with city approvals. Burbank Entertainment Village is an addition of 300,000 square feet (27,871 square meters/42 mu) of mixed use in the heart of downtown Burbank. Phase I uses include an 80,000 square foot (7,432 square meter/11 mu) Cineplex theatre, 30,000 square feet (2,787 square meters/four mu) of retail, and 30,000 square feet (2,787 square meters/four mu) of promenade restaurants.

The existing Palm Avenue was turned into a pedestrian multilevel plaza with an arcade of Queen Palms to continue the citywide tradition. Two perimeter streets have nostalgic facades and a landscape which responds to the period—Moorish paving patterns, ornate fountains, Mexican Fan Palms and Crepe Myrtle trees in Burbank signature tree grates. Giant bird-of paradise, bougainvillea, and succulent gardens give texture and color to the terrace planters and pots. Specialty lighting on the facades and the landscape elements creates a special effect in the evenings.
