Client: National CORE
Architect: SVA
Legacy Square is a multi-purpose, affordable family and permanent supportive housing apartment community located in downtown Santa Ana adjacent to the historic French Park neighborhood. The National Core project is a 93 unit transit-oriented community with multi-modal connections to a planned Orange County street car station and direct access to Santa Ana Bikeway lanes.
Covering 1.74 acres, ground floor amenities include a community center and mixed-use flexible space for neighborhood events, local art, secure parking garage and enclosed bicycle storage. Each apartment home includes a patio or balcony. The second-floor courtyard serves as the communities’ private outdoor recreation with a tot lot, barbecues, large open synthetic turf play area, shaded picnicking and community garden planters encouraging health fitness and community involvement.
Surrounding the project are existing large heritage oak trees and palm trees which were preserved creating a green buffer around the community, providing shade and reducing the urban heat island effect. A water wise, low maintenance landscape with an efficient irrigation system is used thought out the community.
