University of California, Irvine’s new, 33-acre undergraduate and graduate housing community encourages socialization and interaction while providing privacy in an academically oriented environment.
Two and three story-clustered housing connects to the UCI academic core through a series of pedestrian walkways and bikeways. A major pedestrian promenade The Great Street links all the residential buildings, the graduate lounge, and the Community Building and is a convenient path to the main multi-purpose trail to main campus and the adjacent Student Recreational Facility. Balconies, apartment courtyards, pool club, volleyball, and a sport court, extend to the Great Street to encourage socializing opportunities. Building heights are limited to maintain comfortable pedestrian scale and to balance student’s need for privacy, safety and quiet.
